HECTOR CANONGE jest artystą interdyscyplinarnym,
kuratorem i promotorem kultury. W swojej
pracy artystycznej wykorzystuje technologie multimedialne, uwarunkowania
otoczenia, narracje filmowe i performatywne. Podejmuje problemy związane z
konstrukcją tożsamości, tematyką gender i rolami płciowymi czy też polityką
migracji. Podejmując wyzwanie przestrzeni white box’u galerii lub interweniując
bezpośrednio w przestrzeń publiczną jego działania niosą w sobie rytualne procesy, ruch i próby wytrzymałości.
Niektóre z jego akcji oraz performatywnych choreografii powstają w kolaboracji
z innymi artystami i przy interakcji publiczności. Multimedialne instalacje,
prace video, projekty konceptualne i performance artysty były prezentowane w
Stanach Zjednoczonych, Ameryce Łacińskiej, Azji i Europie.
Canonge mieszka i pracuje w Nowym Jorku gdzie również
organizuje istotne programy i wystawy sztuki współczesnej, takie jak: A-Lab
Forum, FRAMING AIDS, BABEL. Był inicjatorem między innymi wydarzeń:
CINEMAROSA, QMAD, ITINERANT -festival for Performance Art- i PERFORMEANDO. Latem
2013 Canonge zaprezentował indywidualne wystawy "MISK'I" oraz
"CORPOREALIDAD" w Boliwii, oraz prezentacje "PACIFICO" w
Peru i "MATEANDO" w Argentynie.

TROTAMUNDOS to prezentowany w różnych krajach europejskich
interdyscyplinarny projekt, który służy jako platforma kreacji i eksperymentów
w zakresie sztuki żywej. W Polsce, w poznańskiej Galerii Raczej, Hector Canonge
zaprezentuje odsłonę projektu pt. HELIOCENTRIC; performance bazujący na
obserwacjach miejskiej specyfiki oraz lekturach dotyczących Mikołaja Kopernika.
W swoim projekcie Canonge zadaje pytania o prawdziwy charakter przekonań i
wyobrażeń człowieka w relacji z jego pozycją we wszechświecie.

HECTOR CANONGE is an interdisciplinary artist, curator,
and cultural promoter. His artistic work incorporates the use of media
technologies, physical environments, cinematic and performative
narratives. He explores and treats issues related to construction of
identity, gender roles, and the politics of migration. Challenging the
white box settings of a gallery or a museum or intervening directly in public
spaces, his performances mediate movement, endurance, and ritualistic
processes. Some of his actions and carefully choreographed performances
involve collaborating with other artists and interacting with audiences. The
artist's multidisciplinary installations, video work, conceptual projects and
performance art pieces have been presented in the United States, Latin America,
Asia and Europe.
Canonge lives and works in New York City where he's been
organizing important programs and exhibitions in contemporary art: A-Lab Forum,
FRAMING AIDS, BABEL. He created the initiatives: CINEMAROSA, QMAD,
ITINERANT -festival for Performance Art-, and PERFORMEANDO among others. During
Summer 2013, Canonge presented the solo exhibitions: "MISK'I" and
"CORPOREALIDAD" in Bolivia, and the presentations
"PACIFICO" in Peru, and "MATEANDO" in Argentina. From
September to October 2013, the artist will be participating in residency programs
and performance art presentations in various countries in Europe.

TROTAMUNDOS is an interdisciplinary project in performance
art that serves as platform for the creation and experimentation of live action
art to be presented in various countries in Europe. In Poland, Hector
Canonge will present HELIOCENTRIC a performance piece based on his observations
of the city and readings about Nicolaus Copernicus. For his performance, Canonge
questions the true character of beliefs and the transformation of man's notions
about his position in relation to the universe.
